The Project

Final Design, Health and Safety Coordination, and Supervision for the construction of the new gymnasium at the Agricultural Institute of Florence, located in Via delle Cascine 11, Florence.

Introduction

This project involves the construction of a new gymnasium for the Agricultural Institute of Florence, funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR – Mission 4: Education and Research). The intervention aims to enhance school infrastructure by providing suitable spaces for both curricular and extracurricular sports activities. The new facility will be built in compliance with current regulations and will incorporate innovative solutions to improve sustainability and energy efficiency.

Technical details

  • The gymnasium will be built using a steel frame structure and will include changing rooms and ancillary facilities.
  • The design complies with NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) standards and includes integrated solar panels to optimize energy consumption.
  • A BIM (Building Information Modeling) approach will be adopted to ensure integrated design and effective cost control.
  • Special attention will be given to indoor environmental quality, including natural lighting and acoustic comfort.
  • The facility will comply with CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) regulations for sport facilities, as well as safety and accessibility standards.
  • The gym will also be available outside school hours for local sports associations

Results

The project will provide the Institute with a modern and functional facility for sport activities, enhancing the educational offer and promoting the sustainable use of public infrastructure. The building will meet high energy performance standards, contributing to a reduced environmental impact.
